Class Visit with Liz Nurenberg

Last week (Tuesday, 3/28), the Los Angeles artist Liz Nurenberg came to our class to talk about her playful, smart, and remarkably humane work, which invites artists to become participants in activating her sculptures.
She took our students through her history of art-making, which has included a number of constraints--a recurring theme of this class. At one point, she talked about how the pieces she makes, like a chair designed to make the two people who sit in it face each other in close proximity, have to break down and fit in the back of her car, a Toyota Yaris.
It was a treat to have her join us and share, so generously, of her time. Click on over to her site to see some of the great, often comic stuff she's made.
